OK – so you’re clearly an apolitical crowd.  So answer me this -  which is the better cookie – toll house or peanut butter?

My view:

No contest – toll house cookies – anything with chocolate in it wins in my book!

CBC confirmed today that Richard Colvin’s allegations of prisoner torture were reported directly to Peter McKay’s office… twice… years ago.  McKay continues to deny this.  What do you think – should Peter McKay be required to resign?

My view:

Something smells, and  Ithink it’s this government – they should all resign or we should give them the boot!

In response to Richard Colvin’s allegations that prisoners turned over to the Afghan army by the Canadian military have been tortured, Canada’s Tory government is attacking Colvin’s credibility.  They reject Opposition calls for a public inquiry.  Yet, if this is really happening, then the Canadian government is complicit in war crimes.  What do you think – should there be a public inquiry into these allegations?

My view:

How typical of the Tories to trot out their lame, old  ‘attack campaign’ strategy for dealing with serious issues; it’s long past time for these right wing-nuts  to give their heads a shake - if they are so sure nothing happened, then why are they so afraid to see a full, frank, and open investigation take place?

What has happened to the Liberal Party under Ignatieff’s leadership?  Do you think he has improved their fortunes?  Would you vote for him as the next Prime Minister?

Here’s my view:

He;s not done much to help them and, as a result, I think the Liberal party is going to go down in flames in the next election and we’ll be stuck with a Tory goverment and tough times for years to come!

The Univeristy of Alberta is set to impose 12 furlough days per year (i.e. days off without pay) on professors, in order to reduce payroll expenses in the face of a huge budget shortfall.  This essentially amounts to a salary cut, since most professors actually work extra days (evenings and weekends) just to keep up with performance expecations.  What if the professors oppose this imposed furlough?  Do you think that they should be allowed to go on strike?

Here’s my view:

In an effort to garner more repsonse, I’ll not tell you my view until/unless some of you comment first.  :-)

Should EVERY Canadian be provided the H1N1 flu vaccine at the taxpayers’ expense?   The cost is $30 per person.  Is this really a serious pandemic risk, or a huge cash grab by the pharmaceutical companies?

Here’s my view:

I think that we should vaccinate as many Canadians as possible, since it’s only about a hundred dollars per household and, in the end, it would be better to waste this money than to risk the lives and health of Canadians.
